MACLAREN STATEMENT

This week, Maclaren USA announced that it is voluntarily employing corrective measures by providing consumers and retailers with a kit to cover the elbow joint on Maclaren umbrella buggy’s side hinge mechanism which should be kept out of the reach of children when the operator is opening or closing the umbrella buggy.  This programme is aimed at Maclaren Customers and Retailers in the USA only and does not apply to the UK or any other country outside of the USA.

A company spokesperson for Maclaren Europe Limited said:  “Our products are fully compliant with European safety legislation.  Our products were assessed and found to be fully compliant and safe.

“We wish to reassure our customers that they should continue to use their existing Maclaren buggies since they are safe when open and closed correctly.  As further reassurance we have updated our operating instructions and placed a warning label on the buggy to ensure that customers take care and keep children away from the buggy when it is being folded or unfolded.  Our advice is that consumers should take the same level of caution and care as when opening or closing a car door or any other moving part that can be found in many other baby and toddler products.

“We will be updating our UK website to give consumers clear advice and operating instructions.
 
“We would like to make clear this is not a European wide product recall.  In the US the term product recall has an entirely different meaning.  It means corrective action or the modification of products which can be carried out in the home.  In response to  accidents which occurred when buggies where not operated in line with instructions and safety guidelines our US Company decided to voluntarily supply kits to cover the elbow joint as a safety measure.  There are a lower number of similar reported incidents amongst the considerably higher number of Maclaren buggies sold in Europe.  If a buggy is folded or unfolded in line with our operating instructions the risk of injury is non existent.”

Monday we were back at the Bolton Wanderers Training Ground this time with Nick Porter our Britax rep. We were meeting the players to address the issue of Car Safety. We were working with Britax, the leading car seat manufacturers and fitting new seats and also checking the players existing child car safety seats to ensure they were all fitting securely and correctly. Now, most of the team with babies and children all have Britax car seats fitted in their cars courtesy of Babyguds.
We managed to take a few snaps as below;

I had the pleasure today of delivering a pram to non other than Colleen Rooney. With the patter of tiny feet in the Rooney household due any day, Babyguds would like to wish them all the happiness in their exciting new journey. Good luck Wayne and Colleen and hope to see you again soon.

Babyguds have been working closely with Babystyle over the past few weeks and a number of celebrities have been linked with the new BabyStyle Oyster Pushchair, supplied by Babystyle via Babyguds. I have been rubbing shoulders with the Rich & Famous and it was only last week I met up with the wife of Manchester Utd and England Star Wes Brown. After demonstarting the Oyster to Leanne she was really happy with the product and has been happily recommending to friends.  We also managed to get a quick snap of Leanne with the Oyster.

It was then off to Bolton Wanderers training ground where again I delivered 2 more Oyster Pushchairs to Bolton Striker Kevin Davies and Midfielder Matt Taylor.  Again positive feedback of the Oyster and it also gained quite a lot of attention of other players so I have no doubt we will be seeing a lot more of this new pushchair from now on.

Hey Baby Bloggers, we have just returned from the BPA show at the Excel in London. To be honest it was fairly quiet but we managed to catch up with our friends at Britax, amongst others, and see what’s new for 2010.

Britax have upgraded their wheeled goods and revamped the whole range, changing the names in the process,  they have also introduced a new product to the range which I’m sure is going to be a big hit. These will be available in early 2010.

The new 2010 colours for all the Britax Car Seats are all bold, strong colours and they have stayed with the girl/boy names for each colour. Like the Ellen (Red/Black) which is now the Olivia, the Heidi (Pink/Blue) which is now the Bella and they have also updated the Peter (Blue) which now stands out more and is more of an electric blue bringing it closer to the Kingfisher which was around a few years ago. I must admit though this is my favourite colour in the new range and I’m sure it will go dow a storm! Although the colours are similar, the fabrics and shades are very much different and in my opinion, better. The Britax Car Seat new colours are as follows; Elisa, Olivia, Felix, Alex, Micky, Maxim, Nicolas, Bella, Jet and Florian.
